Lily's First Day of School

Lily started her first day of school EVER> She has never been to preschool or anything so she was pretty excited.  She said "Ok mom, I've given Jake and Asher a hug and kiss and told them goodbye so when can I go?" And when we got to school the teacher had me fill out a form and she kept saying "Ok mom when are you leaving?" She had made friends within the first 30 seconds of walking in the classroom(which is just like her) and could not wait to get started. I must say my days are going to be pretty quiet around here with out her making me laugh but it will be nice to focus on the boys and start preparing them for when they start school.

She was trying to be so independent she even tied her own shoes. She apparently told Jake it was his job to clean the room now since she would be busy with school.

Self Haircut

Yes it's true, I who has no experience what-so-ever cutting hair just cut my own hair with bangs included. This might sound a bit crazy to some, especially the ones who spend a fortune getting their hair cut to make sure it's a good one(mom). My reasoning is thus: I live in a town that doesn't give me many options for hair salons. There is a Walmart and a couple other salons where you are the only white person and everyone stares. I guess what it really comes down to is the fact that the only person I trust with my hair lives in Utah. It's funny that I say that because I'm probably the last person I would ever trust with my hair but I figure I'd rather get a bad haircut for free than have to pay for it. I guess I could just wait till I go to Utah to visit family but I feel like I have so many things to do while I'm in town because I can't do them here, so I don't spend as much time with family as I really want to. The more I think about it, the more I realize that my hair is not that important. I'd rather spend time with my family and go to Costco. Now I just have to wait till I go to Utah so my sister can highlight it. (ps. Becca you are highlighting my hair by the way) So with all that being said I present to you my first self haircut.( the rest of my hair is just a normal long layered style but you can't tell because I didn't straighten my hair today so it's just frizz. Thus the pony-tail.)

Trying To Stay Sane

Since there is not a whole lot to do around these parts, I try to keep myself busy by crafting. Pretty much my whole house is going to be homemade.

Jacob thinks that people are going to come to our house and think that I am cruel and cynical because of these next three signs. I just think they're funny.

In this picture I made the widow toppers, the plates on the wall, the table runner and the GOWANS sign. I don't care if I'm good at this stuff or not. It's fun and it keeps me sane.

Lily Has Bangs

A lot of kids have issues with cutting their own hair. Thankfully my kids have never taken interest in doing so, however, my 5 year old has a strange habit of ripping her hair out. After long car trips her car seat is usually covered in hair due to boredom I guess. The other day she managed to rip a huge chunk out of her bangs. It looked rather silly so I figured it was time to just cut bangs. Although she looks adorable it makes me sad because I think she looks more grown up. I know they are going to driver her crazy. She can't stand hair in her eyes. Hopefully she will learn her lesson. And yes, she has a chocolate milk mustache.

Asher's photo shoot

I finally took Asher's 1 year photos(only 4 months late).  I'm not gonna lie, the reason I was so late is because I was kind of dreading it. Lets face it, this kid has not had the most pleasant or friendly personality for the past....oh I don't know....about 16 months or so. I figured that trying to take a picture would be even more difficult than trying to get him to do anything else. Who knew that all you had to do was say " say cheese" and he would do the rest. Needless to say it was the easiest photo shoot I've ever had with one of my kids. Now I just have a lot of editing to do. My back drop didn't work out quite like it did the last time but with a lot of cropping I think I can make it work.

What can I say? The kid loves the camera.

To Catch You Up

 Asher is getting bigger.
Lily is getting smarter.
 Kat is getting crankier.
My parents went on a mission to Georgia.
Jake has gone blind. (Not really.)
The kids like to play in the mud. Kat does not like the kids playing in the mud.
Lily turned 5 and had an ice cream cake (which Kat made).

We are all doing well.

Love It When Daddy Comes Home and other random things.

The kids always ask if they can go outside and "look" for dad. Jacob walks home and he is usually home about the same time every day so I let them go out to wait for him but I get too stressed out when they are in the front yard so I only let them go out a few minutes before he comes. The other day they were asking to go find him a little over an hour before he would get home so I told them they needed to wait a little longer before they went out. They literally stood at the front door staring out the glass the entire time, waiting for me to give the ok for them to go outside. When it was time, they rushed out the door and over to the curbside to watch down the street. As soon as they saw him coming they ran down the sidewalk after him yelling in excitement. Luckily I had my camera out (because I was trying to take some pictures of Ash man) and was able to see them strolling down the street together. When I went outside Jake yelled to me "Mom, I found dad!" (Wow! That is one smoking hot dentist!) Their favorite thing to play when dad comes home is "Superhero"

And yes, I do get a little nervous when they play superhero. But they LOVE it.
Lily getting ready to fight.

Even Asher loves it. I'm pretty sure that "Cozy Sac" was the best thing we ever got and that one was free.
Random Things:

The other day I was making a grocery list when I had to run upstairs for a minute. When I got back, my list had a few added items. (pears, apple and marshmallow cereal) I love that Lily can write. Now if we could just work on that spelling before she starts school in the fall.
I love that Asher puts himself in his little chair to drink his bottle. Sometimes I literally can't find him and then I finally see him all the way over in the corner just chillin in his chair.
This morning I found him soothing himself with this little contraption. It is the nipple off an old bottle stuck on top of a metal pole.
It looked a bit awkward to use but he seemed to enjoy it.
What a little turkey eh?
