Spots

Poor Jake has had a difficult month. First he was teething, then he got really sick, then he got a double ear infection that we are having a hard time getting rid of. He has had it for about three weeks now. The Dr. put him on Amoxicillin and after being on that for about a week we discovered that he was allergic to it. The poor kid is covered in red spots. These pictures do not show them very well. I took him back to the doctor and he was shocked at how bad it was. He told me I could not give him any Amoxicillin for 15 years. He was given a different antibiotic so hopefully he will be on the road to recovery soon. We love you Jake.
Just a quick story. We have been to the doctor a lot lately so Lily knows the routine. The first thing you do is undress the baby. Today she brought her doll and when we got in the room she undressed it and set it on the examining table to wait for the doctor. When he came in he saw the doll and pulled out his stethoscope and examined the doll. He told Lily that the baby was looking great and that she was doing a great job at taking care of her. I am really glad we found this doctor. He has been so great and Lily LOVES going to the doctor because of him. Even if she has to get a shot. It has made it a more positive experience.

Fail Blog

My friend at school and I often take a few moments out of our busy days to check out www.failblog.org, a compilation of pictures, screenshots, and videos of people who sometimes fail in those small or large moments of life. Here is an example:

So, if you ever have a few minutes to kill, check out the fail blog!

Updates

The past few days the kids and I have been sick with what feels like the flu. It might be swine flu but I am not sure. (Thanks Jacob for living on Hot pockets and other crapola and not complaining.)I have been keeping a close eye on poor little Jake. I feel so sorry for him. I only know how I am feeling and it kills me to think he is going through the same thing. I wish there was something I could do. The other day I was feeding him and he was so exausted he just koncked right out. Hopefully things start getting better soon.

Jake is 6 months old tomorrow. He finally cut his two bottom teeth. Man it was rough but we got through it. He is scooting around and almost crawling. I thought he would take longer than Lily because he has a lot more weight to carry but he just might beat her. Lily was crawling by 7 months. He has started eating solids and so far so good. Although it would be a lot easier if I could get him to get his thumb out of his mouth. Right now his favorite things are pears, his thumb and things that ar silky.

Lily has been sweet, cute, fun and turning my hair gray all at the same time. I can't get her to take a nap anymore and she seems to need it bad. She gets so cranky. The other day I put her in timeout around 5:30pm and she fell asleep on the floor in about 5 seconds. Then she had a hard time sleeping that night. Oh what to do? Any advice from you wiser moms than I?
A cute quote from Lily this week was when I was in bed while Jacob was watching the kids. She kept coming in and pulling on my arm trying to get me out of bed. I tried to explain to her that I wasn't feeling well and I needed to sleep. After she came in about the 15th time I could see that it was hopeless so I got up. Lily then said "See mom you got up. You're all better now." If only life was that simple .
Also She is finally finally finally potty trained. She now goes on public toilets and doesn't even use a trainer seat at home. She wakes up sometimes at night to go and I am thinking about taking diapers off her at night because many times I forget to put one on her and she doesn't wet the bed. Hooray for Lily. We are so proud of her.

This one scares me. She has become obssessed with flying and loves to jump off things. So far the highest thing has been the kitchen table but this girl has no fear so i'm afraid. She loves to make her toys fly (also dangerous for Jake mostly who's head gets in the way sometimes) and her favorite phrase in the movie The Incredibles is "Fly home Buddy" Lately she has been repeating a phrase before she jumps and I finally figured out what she is saying. She says "To infinity and beyond" I have a cute niece kate who loves princess stuff and it is so darling. I always hoped Lily would get in to that but so far no dice. This little girl ladies and gents loves to be Buzz Lightyear. She also loves cars, dinosaurs, spiders,(I try to be supportive of this one) spiderman, picking her nose and eating it and airplanes. (of course) However she does LOVE to paint her nails and wear pretty bows. She and her brother will be good buddies.

This video was just something I have been wanting to post for a while. I really just wanted Jacob to see it. It is kind of long and the cute part is really only in the first few seconds so after that you don't have to watch. This is when we were in Utah and Lily would talk to Jacob on the phone. It was so cute how she would try to show Jacob her "owies" over the phone.

What do you do on a Sunday evening?

First you mash up bananas. Then you dump in all other ingredients that make banana bread.
Then you snitch sugar out of the bowl before you mix it all up.
Then you put it in the oven and wait for an hour.
While you wait you play in your room with your dad. (I love this video because Lily and Jacob always try to scare me and I love how it takes Lily so long to find her way out from under the blanket.)

When the timer goes off you run to the oven very excited, open it up and..........
hear your mom yell and rage because of her stupid bad word bad word piece of bad word oven that never works and has shut itself off halfway through the baking process. So you put it back in the oven and wait again for another half hour. While you wait you take a bath since it is almost bedtime at this point.

You linger in the tub for a while even though all the water is gone until you hear the timer again.
And when all is said and done you finally end up eating delicious banana bread in your Dora the Explorer underwear.

BYU TOPPLES OKLAHOMA!

This may go down as one of the best birthday weekends I will ever have. BYU, ranked number 20th in the nation, defeated number 3 Oklahoma in Dallas, TX. I watched the game. The whole game. And I measured my pulse in the 4th quarter, and I kid you not, I was over 120 bpm. I don't even want to think about what my blood pressure was measuring. Here are some photos:

It was a rough game from start to finish. BYU committed four turnovers, including one only yards away from the endzone.

Max Hall had to dig in deep on BYU's final drive, needing to convert on 3rd and long on almost every set of downs. Pitta came up big in several catches. The defense made several AMAZING stops, and cannot be credited enough for how well they played against what is one of the best offenses in the nation.

It was McKay Jacobsen who came up with the final TD, wide open in the endzone with a minute and a half left in the game. GO COUGARS! We will follow you with tremendous excitement throughout the remainder of the season. Play your best.

4 years

I am mad at myself because I didn't even think to get a picture of us. I need to be better about taking pictures. However we still had a wonderful day and have had a wonderful 4 years. This is one of my presents from Jacob. It was probably my favorite. I wish I could tell you what it is but as you can see it is strictly confidential.
Jacob and Lily watching one of my other presents. It is a glass cube with the temple we were married in etched on the inside, and also another one of the savior. They are beautiful.

Jacob came home from school a little early, so we hung out and opened presents. I'm not saying what I got him because it is lame compared to all that he got me. I was under the impression we were not spending money. Then we dropped the kids off at our friends (who probably feel so used by us. Thanks, guys.) and went out to dinner at a very elegant French restaurant called L'Albatros (The Albatross).
While waiting for our food we had a fromagerie (a guy who knows a ridiculous amount about cheese) come and give us 5 samples of some exotic cheeses. Two of them tasted like rotten goatmilk, another like rotten garbage, another one was an overpowering herbal flavor and the last one we kind of liked. It tasted like a stronger flavor of swiss cheese. It was called Midnight Moon.
I felt like we had to eat every bite because the restaurant pays $30 a pound for it but I couldn't stomach it. I enjoyed the experience, though. When we sat down jacob turned to me and said, "You can not order pizza or a hamburger." I am not one for trying something new. It was the first time I have ever tried duck and lamb. I felt cruel eating the lamb for some reason. It was such a nice place that I felt like the waiters were secretly wondering what we were doing there but they were all super friendly and I learaned a lot about cheese and wine. (no, we did not drink wine ....... we couldn't afford it:)
After dinner Jacob went to get ice cream while I put the kids in bed. The one on the right (if you can see it) is the one he got for me. He later pulled out another one he had hidden.
We spent the evening playing a game of Sorry with this bright-eyed little man because he would not go to sleep. After about 45 min. Lily woke up screaming and then both kids screamed for about the next couple hours. While dealing with that, we were also dealing with our house being filled with siggy smoke. We just had a neighbor move in below us who smokes and it is coming up in our house. We are not quite sure what to do about it yet. She is the nicest girl and we don't want to make things awkward. Anyway it was a good day. Thanks, Jacob, for all you do for me. I love you.

Familia

The kids and I recently went home for my brothers wedding. We had so much fun with everybody and meeting my new sister-in -law, Ashley. She is a keeper. I am so mad that I didn't even get a picture of her.
Ty, Cody and Lily
Most of the time these guys fought with each other so we had to get a picture of the times they were being cute.
My brother Dave, the groom, and his best friend DJ (on the left) playing their guitars at the reception.
Lily playing with my childhood toys. More like breaking them.
My cute little niece Maggy.
I wish I got a picture of all my nieces and nephews because they are all so stinking cute and I don't have any pictures of them. I have some pictures of them on Jacob's side of the family but they are printed copies and I don't have a scanner. Argh!

Nephews Sam and Ty playing dress up. These guys were so funny.
This is a 4 generation picture that I have been wanting to get for a long time. We were finally all in the same place at the same time. My Grandmother, my mom, me and of course the little Lilster filster and Mr. J man.
